QurBan Distribution

Qurban, also known as Qurbani, is the Islamic practice of sacrificing livestock during Eid al-Adha. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, before God provided a ram to sacrifice instead. The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts: one part for the family, one part for friends, and one part for the poor and needy.

Here are some key points about Qurban distribution:

  • Eligible Animals: A goat, sheep, cow, bull, buffalo, or camel, meeting specific age and health requirements.
  • Distribution: The meat should be divided into three equal parts for the individual, family/friends, and the poor.
  • Timing: The sacrifice should take place after the Eid prayer and during the days of Tashreeq (the 10th, 11th, or 12th day of Dhul-Hijjah).
  • Eligibility: Every Muslim who possesses the Nisab value (minimum amount of wealth requiring them to give Zakat) is obligated to perform Qurbani.
  • Intention: It is performed with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure and helping those in need.

The rules can vary slightly depending on the Islamic school of thought, but the essence of sharing and charity remains the core of the practice. If you have any specific questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask!

Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah , Lord of the worlds" (Al-'An`am 6/162)
